Octavian Calmic (b. 9.10.1974) is a Moldovan economist and since January 2016 Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Moldova. In 1991 he has graduated in Management and Economics at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (AESM). During 1998 and 2001, he has studied at WTO Institute. Between 1996-1998 he has been main specialist at the Bilateral Division and during 1998-2001 he has served as Deputy Head of the WTO Division of the Moldovan Ministry of economy. During 2001-2005 he has been the Head of multilateral trade regimes and WTO Division and throughout 2005-2009 he has been the Director of the Directorate General Trade Policy of the same Ministry. Between 2009-2016 he has been Deputy Minister on International Economic Cooperation Issues.
Sergiu CiocleaGovernor, National Bank of Moldova
Mr. Sergiu CIOCLEA (b. 1974) has been Governor of the National Bank of Moldova since 11 April 2016. Prior to that, he exercised the function of Managing Director, Head of Corporate Finance Department of BNP Paribas Group for Russia and the former URSS area (2008-2015). He holds a Master’s Degree in Economic Sciences at the University of Pantheon-Assas, France and a Post-graduate Diploma in International Economics and Development at the same university. Mr. Cioclea started his professional activity in 1997 as senior economist in charge of Central and East Europe, Russia and Turkey, Country Risk Division – Economic Research Department, Paris. In 1998, he served as Bonds analyst in charge of Central and East Europe, Emerging Market Desk, Fixed Income Department, London. During the period 2000-2007, he exercised the function of Associate, Vice President and Director, Central and Eastern Europe Division, Corporate Finance Department, BNP Paribas, Paris.
Dimitri GvindadzeHead of Moldova, EBRD
Dimitri Gvindadze is EBRD Head in Moldova since May 2016. Mr. Gvindadze spent more than two decades of his career in international relations, public finance and investment promotion. As Deputy Finance Minister of Georgia for six years, he was in charge of public debt and international finance. In 2011-12, he was Georgia's Finance Minister, coordinating work and reforms in all areas of public finance and contributing to the international investor outreach. In 2014-2015, Dimitri was EBRD's Lead Economist for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus region. Dimitri holds a Master's degree in international economic development (MPAID) from Harvard's Kennedy School and a Master's degree in engineering from Georgian Technical University.
